In California 411 can present some unique challenges. It is the most populous state in the US and so the amount of information necessary to cover the people and businesses within the state is correspondingly large.

For instance 411 companies are not allowed to give out the numbers or addresses of unlisted numbers. This becomes particularly important in the practice of reverse 411, where you can call to inquire about the person associated with a phone number.
